Mysore/Mysuru: Mayor Shivakumar on Monday released free Jumboo Savari procession passes, brought out by the District Administration in association with the city’s Kalpavriksha Trust, at a simple ceremony organised at the Mayor’s office in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Trust Convenor Devaraju said that the District Administration and the MCC have been allotting space in front of Government Ayurveda College on Sayyaji Rao Road for providing seating arrangements and erection of Shamiana exclusively for foreign tourists to watch the famed Jumboo Savari on Vijayadashami day for free for the past ten years. This year too, the Trust will continue with this initiative and the free pass has been released by the new Mayor Shivakumar, Devaraju said.
Pointing out that the seating arrangement can accommodate a thousand foreign tourists, he said that the tourists will also be provided free biscuits and drinking water.
