MCC blind to muck, filth under its very nose

Mysuru: The efforts and the length that the District Administration and the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is putting to see that the city regains its top ranking in the cleanliness drive in the country is truly laudable. They are leaving no stone unturned to create awareness among the public to participate in Swachh Survekshan 2018.

Sadly, however, if one peeps into the toilets in the MCC, it is a sickening sight with washbasins and commodes in a pathetic state. Even the state of the urinals is deplorable. The doors to the toilets are in a poor condition.

The white western style commodes have turned black and yellow. Even the Indian style toilet is no different. The city is being spruced up throughout the day with Pourakarmikas working extra hours. But it is an ugly sight at the MCC premises and there is also lack of water in the washrooms. There is definitely everything unhealthy about the place.

Hundreds of people visit the MCC on various errands and sometimes they have to wait for hours to get their work done. Now, they are forced to go to the only toilet available in the vicinity. Even the Corporation drivers and staff have to use the same toilet.

The Central team will visit the city next week for Swachh Survekshan. The citizens are gearing up, now it is the turn of the Corporation. One only hopes that this mess at the toilets in the MCC is a thing of the past, at the earliest.
