Mysuru: Almost a year after Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) handed over 62 Layouts, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is yet to bring them under its jurisdiction and start accepting the Property Tax due for 2016-17.
Though the State Government issued a circular earlier this year entrusting the Corporation with the responsibility of collecting Property Tax from all MUDA Layouts coming under its geographic purview, the MCC Revenue Officers are unable to accept Property Tax till the khata registers are transferred from MUDA to MCC.
MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that the MCC will formally accept 62 MUDA Layouts in one or two weeks.
Pointing out that necessary directions will be issued to collect Property Tax soon thereafter, he said that the residents can transfer their khatas from MUDA to MCC later.
The delay in accepting the Layouts is attributed to the time-consuming process of drawing upon inventory of various amenities, he added.
Jagadeesha, however, said that the MCC and MUDA officials will expedite the preparation of the inventory and hold a formal function soon to accept the Layouts transferred by MUDA.
It may be mentioned here that except for a few, most of the Layouts transferred are MUDA-approved private layouts.
