MCC distributes cheques to deceased employees’ families
Mysore/Mysuru: Heart-rending scenes were witnessed during the distribution of compensation cheques to the families of COVID-deceased MCC employees when MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Mayor Rukmini Madegowda, Deputy Mayor Anwar Baig and other MCC Officials visited their homes yesterday to give away the cheque of Rs. 5 lakh each to each family.
While MCC employees Ravi and Vinod passed away three days ago, another employee Mahadev had breathed his last on May 3.
The Commissioner, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and officials, who visited the house of Mahadev, a Pourakarmika, at Pourakarmika Colony in Jyothinagar, gave the cheque to Mahadev’s wife Sathyamma and consoled her.
When the MCC team visited the house of Ravi, a driver, at N.R. Mohalla, Ravi’s mother Kamala and wife Bharathi, upon seeing the Commissioner and the Mayor became inconsolable and the Officers had a tough time consoling them.
Commissioner Shilpa Nag, who consoled Ravi’s mother, told her, “We tried very hard to save the life of Ravi, but could not. We are with you and the family.” The delegation later gave the compensation cheque to the family members.
The team then visited the house of Vinod, a driver of the MCC fogging vehicle at Bharath Nagar, where they met Vinod’s father Gopal, other family members and handed over the compensation cheque.
Gopal, who became inconsolable, told the MCC delegation that Vinod was deployed for fogging around houses with COVID patients. “Though we had told him to take precautions and despite Vinod taking all precautions, he contracted the virus, which snuffed out his life. Please give a job to his wife Dakshayini,” Gopal pleaded.
The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Commissioner, who consoled the family members, assured them of doing their best and handed over the cheque.
The MCC delegation had a tough time consoling the families of deceased MCC employees, who began to weep bitterly unable to bear the loss of their dear ones and bread earners.
