Mysore/Mysuru: B.T. Kumar Naik (55), Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), passed away yesterday morning at his MCC residential quarters, near Cheluvamba Park in Vontikoppal here following a massive heart attack.
He leaves behind his wife Vasantha Kumari, a Sirastedar Officer at the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Hunsur, 10-year-old daughter Kavyashree and a host of relatives and friends.
Kumar Naik, a Karnataka Municipal Administrative Service (KAMS) Officer was serving as the MCC Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) for the past five years. He had earlier served as the Chief Officer at Arasikere City Municipal Council.
According to sources, Kumar Naik’s driver called him over the phone yesterday morning but the call was unanswered. Suspecting something wrong, the driver, who reached the quarters, broke open the door only to find Kumar Naik collapsed on the floor and immediately rushed him to Jayadeva Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Last rites were performed this noon at his native place T.B. Kaval in Kadur taluk of Chikkamagalur district.
Mayor Tasneem, Dy. Mayor C. Sridhar, MCC Commissioner Gurudutta Hegde, Corporators and MCC staff have condoled the death of Kumar Naik.
