Mysore/Mysuru: Marking International Women’s Day, as many as 66 women Pourakarmikas attached to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) were honoured at the programme organised by the MCC at its premises here on Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, MCC Commissioner Dr. N.N. Madhu said that women, apart from doing household chores, are excelling in almost every field.
Highlighting the role of women Pourakarmikas in keeping cities and towns clean, she said that women played a key role in Mysuru earning the cleanest city tag a few years ago.
Underscoring the role of Pourakarmikas in keeping urban bodies clean and tidy, she said that women Pourakarmikas have shown that they are no less than men in almost every field.
The MCC has been honouring women Pourakarmikas for their excellent and dedicated works, she added.
MCC Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Kusuma Kumari said that the support of men alone does not help in the excellence of women.
Pointing out that the support of women too is equally important, she called upon women Pourakarmikas to educate their girl children and thus help them in achieving success in their careers.
A total of 66 senior women Pourakarmikas were honoured on the occasion.
MCC Deputy Commissioner Sindhu, Revenue DC Sujatha, Zonal Officers Rekha Shetty, Vani, Manjunath Reddy & Nagaraj, Health Officers Dr. Venkatesh and Dr. Harsha, Environmental Engineer Maithri and others were present.
