MCC gets 15 e-auto tippers for garbage collection

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has got 15 e-auto tippers (EVs) worth Rs. 80 lakh for daily garbage collection from door-to-door in all the 65 wards of the city.

ICICI Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative handed over the tippers to Mayor Shivakumar, in the premises of MCC main office on Sayyaji Rao Road here this morning. These vehicles will be added to the existing fleet of 320 vehicles that run on fuel, with most of them being auto tippers deployed in door-to-door collection of garbage from every households in the city.

Mayor Shivakumar said “These vehicles will hit the roads from tomorrow itself. The EV charging station has been built at MCC main office premises and also at Sewage Farm in Vidyaranyapuram. Gradually, all the auto tippers in the City Corporation will be replaced by EVs, by adding more number of such vehicles to the fleet by convincing various other companies to sponsor the vehicles under CSR initiative.”

ICICI Foundation’s Head-Operations, Suketu Kumar, Zonal Head, Bengaluru, B. K. Venkatesh, Project Manager, South Karnataka, Mahadeva Swamy and Janardhan of ICICI Foundation, ICICI Bank’s Regional Head, Bengaluru,  Somashekar, Relationship Officer Mazhar and Head of ICICI Skill Academy Sathyashree,  Deputy Mayor Dr. G. Roopa, MCC Environment Engineer Mythri, AEE (Vehicle Section), Mruthyunjaya and Chairperson of MCC City Planning and Reforms Standing Committee H.M. Shanthakumari were present.
