Mysuru: Former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa has urged the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to take possession of 62 layouts developed near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to ensure that the residents could take up property development work.
Speaking to reporters at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Bhyrappa said that of the 62 layouts, six were developed by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) while the remaining ones were taken up by private developers after taking necessary permissions.
Unfortunately, the MCC is yet to take possession of these properties though it has provided basic infrastructure to these layouts. “Residents are not allowed to pay property tax, water bills, etc. As a result, residents are finding it hard to take up renovation works or construct new buildings in these layouts,” he said. The Deputy Commissioner has directed the MCC Commissioner to take all the fully developed 32 layouts under the ambit. “Due to non-collection of property tax, MCC is losing Rs. 20 crore every year, he claimed. There are over 5,000 houses built in these 62 layouts in areas like Nachanahalli, Koppaluru, Dattagalli, Vijayanagar 2nd and 3rd stages. Bhyrappa added that on Aug. 3, the residents of these layouts would meet the DC and submit a memorandum.
