Mysuru: An assistant attached to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was caught red-handed by the personnel of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting bribe for an official work at his office.
Manjunath, a Second Division Assistant (SDA) working at Krishnaraja Constituency Ashraya Scheme Division, who was overseeing the files of Ashraya Scheme houses, had demanded money from Somashekar, a beneficiary, to issue the release deed of an Ashraya house.
Somashekar, a resident of Ramabainagar, had applied for an Ashraya house to his grandmother Kempamma. Somashekar applied to get the release deed but Manjunath demanded Rs.3,000. Earlier too, Manjunath had taken Rs.15,000 from Somashekar to sanction an Ashraya house. This time, Somashekar tipped off ACB who laid a trap and caught the official red-handed, ACB Superintendent of Police J.K. Rashmi said.
