MCC polls soon, says new State Election Commissioner G.S. Sangreshi

Mysore/Mysuru: State Election Commissioner G.S. Sangreshi has said that the elections will be conducted to all the City Corporations in the State, including Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) soon.

Speaking to media persons at the premises of Mysore Bar Association on Saturday, Sangreshi said he assumed the Office as State Election Commissioner on Friday (July 26).

“I will obtain complete information in relation to the delay in conducting local body elections and the reasons behind the same. Following this, action will be taken to conduct the elections at the earliest. But the elections to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been delayed, over the issues related to reservation matrix and delimitation of Wards. Amid this, there is a proposal to form Greater Bengaluru Authority and the case in this regard is being heard in Supreme Court on July 30. We shall move ahead in compliance with the directions of the Apex Court,” said Sangreshi.

Sangreshi, who had served as the Principal District and Sessions Court Judge in city, was felicitated on the occasion. Association President S. Lokesh, Vice-President M.V. Chandrashekar, Secretary A.G. Sudheer, Jt. Secretary Charanraj were present.
