Mysuru: Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh (B.S. Suresh) said that there were 1,366 non-regular Pourakarmikas working in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) for the past 10 years.
Replying to a question by Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda during Question Hour at the ongoing Winter Session of the State Legislature at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) in Belagavi on Saturday, Suresh said that non-regular MCC Pourakarmikas are being paid a salary of Rs. 21,115 inclusive of ESI and PF and a distress allowance of Rs. 3,000.
Pointing out that regularisation of their services would mean that Pourakarmikas have to be paid a monthly wage of Rs. 35,453, he said that the regularisation of service of Pourakarmikas has been taken up in stages since 2017.
Noting that the MCC would have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs. 18,58,52,496 annually if the services of Pourakarmikas are regularised, the Minister said that the Government would soon appoint 24,005 Pourakarmikas in BBMP and other Urban local bodies directly.
Also, 2,127 Pourakarmikas will be appointed on a regular basis directly for vacant posts , he added.
