MCC raids two godowns at Santhepet

458 kgs banned plastic seized; Rs. 15,000 fine imposed

Mysuru: The officials of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Zone-6, conducted raids on two godowns at Santhepet, and seized a total of 458 kgs of banned plastic, besides imposing a total fine of Rs. 15,000.

The officials, who began conducting inspections of godowns from 12 noon till 4 pm yesterday, found 280 kgs of silver coated plates made from banned plastic at the godown belonging to Ramdev Bags.

Later, when the MCC officials raided the godown of Balaji Marketing, they found 178 kgs of covers manufactured using the banned plastic, and seized a total of 458 kgs of banned plastic from both the godowns.

MCC Zone 6 Environmental Engineer Mythri, who led the raids told Star of Mysore that all godowns at Santhepet were inspected during which items manufactured using banned plastic were seized. As the banned item was found for the first time at godown of Ramdev Bags, Rs. 5,000 fine was imposed  on the owner.

She further said that the banned plastic items were found for the second time at the godown of Balaji Marketing and the owner was imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000.

MCC Zone-6 Zonal Commissioner Pratibha, Health Inspectors Krishna, Manjukumar and others took part in the operation.
