MCC tax collection: Introduce computerised challans

Sir,

Though many readers are suggesting introduction of SAS at Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) from time to time,  the MCC still has not made up its mind to think on these lines. Forget about this, at least they can adhere to a foolproof computerised challan and form generation.

From 2nd April onwards,  various MCC Zonal Offices have started collecting the property tax. But they are following the age old system of writing challans in four parts and also the property tax filling. For this purpose, there will be six to seven designated staff who are helping in writing these forms and charging Rs. 50 per form.  Instead, MCC can introduce a single window system, where a suitable software can be installed and 3-4 systems are installed to generate these forms, which in turn could be vouched at the counter inside, thus making online entry and then tax is collected at the cash counter. This will not only minimise hard work of the staff writing many forms without rest and also mistakes.

I also saw an instance where the cashier was unable to make out the name written in the form.  In this digital era, it is an irony that MCC is still in stone age and at least in the coming years it is high time that  MCC should think of introducing generating computerised challans and forms, from the point of accuracy, speed and minimising manual and paper work.
