Mysuru: With hardly two days left for public campaigning for the MCC Ward 32 by-poll, candidates of the three political parties — Congress, BJP and JD(S) — have stepped up campaigning across the Ward.
Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait undertook a door-to-door campaign yesterday at Gokulam 2nd Stage, Pourakarmika Colony and surrounding areas, on behalf of Congress candidate B.K. Prakash. The Minister also met leader C.R. Himamshu, who was a strong aspirant for the Congress ticket, at a private hotel in a bid to convince him to take part in the campaign. Himamshu, who is reportedly upset over being denied the ticket, had abstained from campaigning.
The Minister was accompanied by City Congress President R. Murthy, ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh, KEA Chairman Siddaraju, MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar, Corporators M. Ramesh and Pushpalatha Chikkanna, leaders Chikkanna, Bhaskar Gowda, Shivanna, Desigowda, Shivamadu and others.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate K. Madesh went on a brisk door-to-door campaign in V.V. Mohalla Water Tank area, Mathrumandali and surrounding areas, appealing the voters to cast their votes in his favour. City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath, Corporator M.K. Shankar and others accompanied him.
JD(S) candidate SBM Manju also undertook a door-to-door campaign in Vontikoppal, V.V. Mohalla, 5th Main, 3rd Cross, 12th Cross and 15th Cross, distributing pamphlets to the electorate. Former Mayor R. Lingappa, Corporators Mahadevappa, Cheluvegowda, Ramani and Shivanna, leaders Kiran, Chikkaswamy, Prasanna Kumar and others took part.
