Mysuru: Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath has said that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will extend all help for promotion of handicraft products. She was speaking at the programme organised by Karnataka State Handicraft Products Makers Association to felicitate craftsmen at the Institution of Engineers Hall on JLB Road here on Sunday last.
Regretting that handicrafts had lost shine over the decades, Pushpalatha stressed on the need for promoting handicrafts in order to restore past glory.
Expressing confidence that Mysuru would earn ‘World Craft City’ tag shortly, she pointed out that a team from World Craft Council recently visited the city in respect of the tag.
City’s noted craftsmen Eric S. Paulos of Intercia India Craft, Bhanuprakash of Helios Decor, Khizer Ahmed of RK Fine Arts, Rahmath of Preetham Handicrafts and sportsperson Yashwanth Kumar were felicitated.
MLA L. Nagendra, Corporators R. Nagaraj and Ramesh, Association President S. Ramu, General Secretary Syed Ismail, Secretary N. Kumar, Treasurer Somasekhar and others were present.
