MCCI opposes power tariff hike

Mysuru: The Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has opposed the proposal to increase the power tariff.

Addressing the media persons at Pathrakartara Bhavan here recently, MCCI President K.B. Lingaraju said, according to Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited is currently not under loss; however, CESC was informed about the measures to be adopted to prevent itself from suffering losses in the future.

Stating that the KERC had agreed to his suggestions, Lingaraju added, he had discussed about wavier of electricity bill arrears from Panchayats, purchase of electricity from other States on lower rates, loss incurred with supply of electricity on discounted rates to few customers among others.
