MCC’s door-to-door COVID Testing Drive: Suggestion

Sir,

This refers to the recent news item on the door-to-door COVID testing drive launched by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC). The RT-PCR testing should not be done to all and sundry (except when it’s done free).

RT-PCR testing should be done house-to-house only in case someone is sick (has fever or difficulty in breathing) or if someone suspects he is infected due to contact with a person who is later confirmed to be positive or asymptomatic or when a person needs it for travelling.

RT-PCR testing only indicates the person has or does not have Covid. It does not guarantee that the person who is tested and waiting for the result does not become infected.

The Government is unnece-ssarily making people spend time and money to get a test done. It only makes sense in the conditions I illustrated above. Hope the new MCC Commissioner will consider my suggestion.
