MCC’s site cleaning tax: A shocker to senior citizen !

Sir,

I was born, brought up and educated in Mysuru but now I am staying with my son in Bengaluru after I retired recently.

I own a 40×60 site in Dattagalli. Last year (2019-2020), I had paid Rs. 3,270 as site tax to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) after MUDA had handed over the Layout to them.

The site tax for the year 2020-2021 is Rs. 7,001, which includes a shocking Rs. 4,800 as SWM cleaning charges.

In its efforts to keep the city clean, it was shocking and atrocious that the Corporation has added another Rs. 4,800 as SWM cleaning charges, bringing the total amount to Rs. 7,001.

MCC is overburdening the citizens by charging nearly three times the amount for cleaning the vacant sites as I had engaged a JCB some months ago to clean my site for Rs. 1,800 only. This is nothing but daylight robbery.

As a retired senior citizen, could I humbly request the City Corporation to be reasonable and reduce the charges to a nominal amount for the benefit of all? Alternatively, the amount already paid for Rs. 4,800 can be adjusted for the next 2 years, helping senior citizens like me and the general public.
