Mysuru: The voting for electing the Directors of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar District Co-Operative Central (MCDCC) Bank began at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road here this morning.
The polling is being held to elect 12 Directors, while five Directors have already been elected unopposed. The MCDCC Bank has 17 Directors on its board.
Those elected unopposed are C. Basavegowda from T. Narasipur, G.D. Harish Gowda from Hunsur, Amith Devarahatti from K.R. Nagar, MLA R. Narendra from Hanur and Jayaram from Yelandur.
Today’s voting is for electing Directors from Nanjangud, Periyapatna, H.D. Kote, Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru taluks, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar taluk APMC, Town Cooperative Banks and Housing Cooperative Societies, Consumer Cooperative Societies and Non-Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies.
There are a total of 27 contestants in the fray, including the Bank’s incumbent President S. Chandrashekar, MCC Corporator SBM Manju, noted Co-operators Mellahalli Mahadevaswamy and A.T. Somshekar. A total of 587 voters will exercise their franchise to elect 12 Directors.
The voting ends at 4 pm, following which the counting of votes will be taken up and the results will be declared by this evening.
