Mysore/Mysuru: The process for the voting in polls for electing the new President and Vice-President of the city- based MCDCC (Mysuru-Chamarajanagar District Co-operative Central) Bank began at the Bank premises at Nehru Circle on Ashoka Road here this morning.

The Bank has 13 newly elected Directors, who form the electorate of the polls. The nomination of papers began at 9 am and after the completion of all the due process that follows, voting will commence.

Counting of votes will be taken up some time after voting ends and the victors will be announced subsequently later today.

Mysuru Assistant Commissioner Ashappa is the Returning Officer (RO).

The Congress, which is the ruling party in the State, has the support of 10 Directors and the Opposition JD(S)-BJP combine has only 3 Directors backing it. The polls seem to be a foregone conclusion with the candidates backed by the Congress sure to win both the key posts.

Senior Congress leader from K.R. Nagar Doddaswamegowda and former Janatha Bazar President S. Chandrashekar are the main contenders for Bank President’s post.
