Mysore/Mysuru: The 2-day Annual Sports Meet, organised by Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) for its members and family at Oval Grounds in city, concluded yesterday.
In the Cricket Tournament organised as part of annual sports, Rural Secretary XI team won the inaugural ‘KBG Cup’ defeating City Vice-President XI team. MDJA named the cricket tournament in memory of late K.B. Ganapathy (KBG), Founder-Editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra, who passed away recently.
A total of five teams including President’s XI, Vice-President’s XI, General Secretary’s XI, Rural Secretary’s XI and MDJA XI took part in the tournament. The Association had also organised various sports for the men and women. On Day-2, athletic events, shot-put, rangoli, musical chair, lemon-and-spoon race among others were held.
MDJA also felicitated T. Narasipur PU College Assistant Professor and International Basketball Player Kaliyanda Reshma Chengappa, sports journalist Girish Doddamani and KSCA Mysuru Zone U-19 player H.N. Rohan.
MLA Yathindra Siddaramaiah distributed prizes to the winners. MLAs Anil Chikkamadu, K. Harishgowda and D. Ravishankar, NR ACP Raviprasad, Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda, MDJA President K. Deepak, General Secretary Dharamapura Narayana and others were present.
