Mysuru, Nov. 15- Kalasuruchi and Devagitam Charitable Trust have jointly organised ‘Meet the Author’ of ‘The Song of the Clay Plot’ and Ghata artiste Sumana Chandrashekar at Suruchi Rangamane, Kuvempunagar, tomorrow (Nov.16) at 11 am.
Dr. Meera Murthy, Professor (retd.), Drama Division, UCFA, Mysuru, will be in conversation with the author.
Sumana Chandrashekar, a ghata player, writer and researcher, studies ghata under Sukanya Ramgopal and has been a student of Karnatak vocal music as well. Sumana has performed extensively, has worked on several experimental and collaborative music projects and projects in music education.
As a researcher into music histories, her specific interest lies at the confluence of language, migration, gender and music. She has travelled widely in India and has worked closely with artists and artiste communities. Sumana has a Master’s in Economics and has had a long stint at India Foundation for the Arts. She is currently based in Bengaluru.
