Sir,
Parking on the footpath is becoming a major issue for the safety of pedestrians. Footpaths are meant for pedestrians to walk safely instead of taking the risk while walking on the road and not to hinder free movement of vehicles.
However, people are seen parking their two-wheelers and even four-wheelers on the footpaths inconveniencing the pedestrians.
Recently a two-wheeler parked on a footpath was seen in the city (see photo). It was parked on the footpath despite space available on the road next to it, which was incidentally meant for two-wheeler parking. It is not clear whether it is due to the ignorance or callous attitude of the rider.
If space is not available in the parking lot, instead of parking on the footpath, people should park at some other place and start walking to reach their destination, which is also good for their health.
Riding two-wheelers on the pavements is also being noticed across the city.
