Mysuru: The Mysore Grahakara Parishat’s (MGP) repeated attempts to get the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to introduce online collection of property tax have failed, alleged MGP member G. Sridhar.
He was speaking at the MGP’s monthly public meeting yesterday at the Yadavagiri office and said that every time a new MCC Commissioner took over, the MGP submitted memoranda, but to no avail. Hence, a fresh thinking is required, he added.
Besides, the Corporation officials are visiting the houses in the respective wards and gathering information regarding the property tax. Since many years, taxes have not been collected in the Revenue layouts. No one is raising their voice against such anomalies. As a result, the government is losing crores of rupees in the form of taxes. Apart from this, even taxes are not being collected from the residents in the MUDA layouts, he charged.
Notice to tax-payers: Notices have been issued to the owners who have paid their house tax in Sharadadevi Nagar. This shows the callous attitude of the officials, said Sridhar.
A doctor, who is a member of the MGP, said that the private hospitals are not treating the patients with any service motto. Instead, they are collecting lakhs of rupees from poor patients with health insurance and subjecting them to all kinds of tests, highlighted the doctor.
He also warned that the patients should always stick to the prescriptions given by the doctors and not a different one dispensed by the pharmacists. If anything untoward happens, then the doctors cannot be held responsible. Also, it becomes difficult to fight the case legally, he said.
