Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their various demands, over a hundred mid-day meal workers, under the banner of AITUC-affiliated Karnataka State Akshara Dasoha Mid-day Meal Workers Federation, staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here this morning.
The demands included minimum wages of Rs.18,000, dropping the move to privatise mid-day meal scheme, job security, bringing mid-day meal workers under Labour Laws, payment of Rs.2 lakh as relief for accidental injuries and Rs.5 lakh in case of death and introduction of pension scheme, among others.
The Federation office-bearers Y. Mahadevamma, Padmamma, Prema, Vanajakshi and others led the protest.
