Mysuru: Marking the birth anniversary of Poet Laureate Kuvempu, the Kuvempu Research and Extension Centre of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has organised a seminar on the topic ‘Kuvempu – Yuga Samvedane’ on Dec. 30, which will be inaugurated by Kannada and Culture Minister C.T. Ravi at 9.45 am at Cauvery Auditorium in KSOU.
Littérateur Prof. Ramegowda will be the chief guest. KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar will preside. KSOU Registrar Prof. B. Ramesh will deliver the introductory speech.
First session of the day-long seminar will begin with Dr. H.P. Geetha, Assistant Professor, Kannada Department, Government First Grade College, Kuvempunagar, presenting her paper ‘Kuvempu Sahitya: Stree Samvedane,’ followed by Prof. Mysuru Krishnamurthy of Maharani’s Commerce and Management College, on ‘Kannada Sahitya: Dalita Samvedane.’ Prof. Boregowda Chikkamarali, Retired Professor, Pandavapura will preside.
In the second session, Prof. M. Ramakrishna of Bharati College, Mandya, will present his paper on ‘Kannada Sahitya: Raita Samvedane’; Dr. Chikkamagaluru Ganesh, Assistant Professor in Kannada, Government First Grade College, K.R. Nagar, on ‘Kannada Sahitya: Samanata Samvedane’; Prof. N. Susheela, Head, Department of Comparative Dravidian Literature and Philosophy, Dravidian University, Andhra Pradesh will preside.
Dr. M.N. Mahesh, HoD of Kannada, Kamaraja University, Madurai, TN and Dr. P. Mani, Assistant Professor in Kannada, KSOU, will preside over the third and fourth sessions respectively.
The valedictory will be held from 4.30 pm to 6 pm with noted humorist and former Kannada Professor M. Krishnegowda as chief guest. Prof. Vijayakumari S. Karikal of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, will preside. Prof. B. Ramesh, Registrar, KSOU and Dr. N.R. Chandregowda, Convenor, Kuvempu Research and Extension Centre, will be present.
