Mysuru: The Karnataka Kannada Writers and Publishers Association will distribute free books to 100 Government Primary Schools in the district tomorrow (Aug.4) as part of its ‘100 Schools 100 Books’ initiative.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Association President Nidasale Puttaswamaiah said Primary and Secondary Education Minister N. Mahesh will distribute the books at a programme to take place at Rajendra Bhavan at 11am tomorrow.
Senior writer Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar will preside. Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar, writer Dr. C.S. Dwarakanath and DDPI N. Mamatha will be present, he said.
Pointing out that the ‘100 Schools 100 Books’ initiative was an ambitious project of the Association, Puttaswamaiah said this initiative has already been launched in Bengaluru Rural, Dharwad, Chamarajanagar and Tumakuru districts and now it is the turn of Mysuru district.
Stating that the 100 books to be distributed include those on Science, Moral Science, Grammar, Human Development, Dictionaries and other useful books, he added that the initiative was aimed at developing reading habit among children.
He further said that the Association’s District Office will also be inaugurated on the occasion.
