Mysuru: A miscreant, who had put his mobile phone number in the website of a reputed resort and getting money transferred from customers, has come to light lately and a case has been registered at the District CEN Police Station.
The miscreant had attached his mobile phone number (85380-99326) in the Google business column of the Regenta Kabini Springs Resort website. The resort is located near Bawali Check-Post and belongs to Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd. Groups.
One of the customers, identified as Shirali D. Mehar, who wanted to book the resort, called the number mentioned in the website on Oct. 7 and the miscreant who chatted with Mehar on WhatsApp told Mehar to transfer Rs. 10,000 to book a room, following which Mehar transferred the said amount to the bank account, the details of which was sent by the miscreant.
As Mehar did not receive any confirmation regarding booking of the room, called the resort landline number and informed them. It was only when Mehar called the resort, the fraud came to light.
Meanwhile, resort staff, who noticed the unknown number in the website tried to delete it but in vain. The resort management also came to know that many customers were being cheated by the miscreant, following which the Royal Orchid Metropole Hotel Lodge Manager Harish Kumar lodged a complaint.
