The miscreant, who came in contact with Thayamma’s sister’s daughter Geetha, had told her that he would get her a job in the Horticulture Department with a salary of Rs. 15,000 per month to which Geetha is said to have told him that she has a job already and asked him to get the job to her relative.

Based on the information provided by Geetha, Thayamma, on June 25 was waiting for the man Geetha had told at the City Bus Stand and the man, who approached her at about 12 noon, took her near a Bank close to Gandhi Square and told her that today was the last day to apply for the job for which she has to deposit Rs. 3,000 cash to the Bank account.

The man then took her gold mangalasutra telling her that he would pledge it and get the money and went from the spot but did not return. After waiting for some time, Thayamma, who came to know that she was taken for a ride, lodged a complaint at Devaraja Police Station.
