Mysore/Mysuru: A miscreant, along with his accomplice, who had snatched away Rs. 2,000 cash, mobile phone and fled with the auto after threatening the driver with a knife, have been arrested by the Mysuru Rural Police.
There were two miscreants involved in the crime and the Cops have arrested one of them. The Police have recovered the mobile phone and the auto and have launched a hunt to nab the other.
On May 18 at about 9 pm, the auto driver, identified as Ravi of Maruti Layout, Hosahalli Pump House in Srirangapatna taluk, was proceeding in front of CADA Office when the two miscreants stopped him (auto driver) and asked him to come to Kadakola.
Ravi, who agreed, took them in his auto was proceeding near Bandipalya, when the miscreants told him that would not get bus to their place at this odd time and requested Ravi to take them to Devalapura.
When Ravi took them to Devalapura, they told him to proceed a little further as they had to give a liquor bottle to a friend, who would come there and asked Ravi to stop the auto when it reached Devalapura Gate near Poornima Farm.
After stopping the auto, Ravi, who had kept the auto in the start mode, got down and was relieving himself when the miscreants threatened him with a knife, snatched away Rs. 2,000 cash and his mobile phone and sped away with the auto.
Ravi then lodged a complaint with the Varura Police. Following instructions from SP Seema Latkar, a Police team led by Sub-Inspectors G.S. Swarna and V. Chethan was formed. The Police team have arrested one of the miscreants and recovered the stolen auto and mobile phone from him.
During interrogation, the Police came to know that the miscreants were involved in extortion and temple theft cases in Yelwal, Bilikere and Mysuru Rural Police limits, according to SP Seema Latkar.
