Mysore/Mysuru: A woman riding her scooter lost her gold mangalsutra after two chain snatchers on a bike made her fall before snatching her 50-gram gold chain and speeding away on the Uttanahalli Ring Road on Saturday.
The woman, identified as 29-year-old Namitha, works as a receptionist at a private Ayurveda Centre on Lalithadripura Road and resides in Hosahundi village on the outskirts of the city. She was on her way home around 7:15 pm when the incident occurred.
Namitha, turning onto the Ring Road at the Marvel PU College junction, was making another turn towards Uttanahalli when two individuals on a bike started following her. As she proceeded on the Service Road, the two individuals on the bike positioned themselves in front of her scooter. In an attempt to escape, Namitha accelerated her scooter.
However, the pillion rider dismounted from the bike and kicked Namitha’s scooter, causing her to fall near the drain on the Service Road. Seizing the opportunity, the pillion rider snatched her gold chain and swiftly fled the scene on the waiting bike.
Following Namitha’s complaint, the Alanahalli Police have registered a case and launched a hunt to apprehend the chain snatchers.
