Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) — Powerful, sharp winged raptor that’s found all across the globe. They are the fastest birds in the world diving at around 320-390 kmph to catch their prey. Their population is increasing in cities due to the accessibility to tall buildings where they can nest. It is one of the worlds most widespread raptor. Their main prey species include pigeons and ducks, but sometimes hunts smaller mammals, reptiles and insects. Around 50 years back these birds were on the verge of becoming endangered species due to DDT, a pesticide used in agriculture, but now their population trend is stable and is classified as least concern by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) red list. They live in a wide range of habitats. Spotted in the outskirts of Mysuru near Bandipalya.
