Madikeri: Three personnel attached to the Office of the Kodagu Superintendent of Police at Madikeri have been suspended in connection with the missing of cash to the tune of Rs.16.96 lakh belonging to the Police Department.
The Kodagu District Police had collected Rs.16.96 lakh, including Rs. 7.68 lakh from sale of Police flags in 2020-21 and Rs.9.28 lakh as fines collected from COVID-19 regulation violators and the total collected amount was kept in the cash section of SP Office. But the money was found missing when the finance section staff opened the cash treasury a couple of days ago for crediting the money to the Government.
Following a complaint by the SP Office Accounts Superintendent alleging that Rs. 16.96 lakh belonging to the Department and kept in the cash section treasury, the Madikeri Town Police had registered a case .
Following preliminary investigation by the Police, the Department has suspended two Second Division Assistants and a D Group employee of the SP Office in connection with the case.
