Mysuru: A 27-year-old youth of Kuvempunagar in the city, who had gone missing since Oct.3, has been murdered, according to initial investigation.
Rahul, who left his house on the evening of Oct.3 saying that he was going to attend ‘Yuva Dasara’ event at Maharaja’s College Grounds, had not returned home since then following which his mother lodged a missing complaint at Kuvempunagar Police Station.
The Police, who began investigation, found out that Rahul had left for Yuva Dasara along with his four friends. The Police, after scrutinising Rahul’s cell phone call records, took the four friends of Rahul into custody on suspicion.
During interrogation, the foursome confessed to have murdered Rahul after the Yuva Dasara event concluded on the night of Oct.6 and dumped his body at KRS backwaters near a village in Yelwal Hobli.
Based on the confession of the suspects, the Police went to the location to trace Rahul’s body which was yet to be recovered when we went to the press.
Based on the jurisdiction, Kuvempunagar Police transferred the case to Lakshmipuram Police, who have continued with the investigation to ascertain the motive of the crime.
