Misuse of funds at Nanjangud temple: 3 get notice

Nanjangud: Following misappropriation of over Rs. 14 lakhs at Srikanteshwara Swamy temple in the town, the temple authorities have issued notice to two serving employees and a retired employee.

The misappropriation was revealed during the recent annual audit, when it was found that irregularities have taken place in issuing receipts for Tulabhara, for which devotees have to pay for the service. The Temple Executive Officer (EO) Kumaraswamy has issued notices to serving employees Abhilash and Subhashini and retired employee Srikantaswamy, asking them to pay up the funds that they have allegedly misappropriated within three days or else face disciplinary action.

It may be mentioned that Abhilash, fearing his name would crop up in the scam, had allegedly consumed some tablets and was admitted to a private hospital in the town. Temple EO said that legal action will be initiated against the staff who are facing charges of misappropriation. He has sent a report to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
