Mysuru: The third anniversary of The Mysuru District Newspaper Agents Association was held at Pathrakartara Bhavan on Thyagaraja Road in city this morning.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra announced a donation of Rs.1 lakh to the Association.
Asking the Association to use the fund for ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ in the coming years, Nagendra lauded the Association for contributing to the society in it’s own way. Noting that the Newspapers have maintained touch with the people without being obligatory to anyone, he said that he would strive to provide houses under various Government schemes to newspaper agents who do not own a house.
MLA Nagendra also released the New Year calendar brought out by the Association.
A total of 23 meritorious students (17 SSLC and 6 PUC) of the Association members, who scored high marks in SSLC and PUC were presented ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ on the occasion.
Also, senior journalist Amshi Prasannakumar was felicitated.
Former MLA Vasu, Association President B.N. Nayak, Hon. President N. Janardhan, General Secretary A. Ravi, MDJA President C.K. Mahendra, Star of Mysore Circulation Manager T.S. Gopinath and others were present.
