Mysuru: MLA L. Nagendra has urged for the celebration of Acharya Trio-Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya Jayantis along with Shankara Jayanti.
He was speaking at Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya Jayanti celebration organised jointly by Ramanuja Sahasramanotsava Samithi and Mysuru City Brahmins Association at Venugopalaswamy temple on Thyagaraja Road here yesterday.
Pointing out that the Jayanti was a day to remember the contributions of Shanakaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya to the entire world, Nagendra said the principles of the Acharya-trio were very much relevant even today.
Suggesting the Government to celebrate Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya Jayanti along with Shankara Jayanti, the MLA said that the joint celebration would largely help in propagating the values propagated by the Acharya-trio much better.
Mysuru District Co-operative Union President H.V. Rajeev said that peace is not a commodity that is available in shops, but can be earned by practising religious values.
Observing that celebration of Jayantis would bring peace to the mind, he called for joint celebration of such Jayantis as it would largely help in uniting the society.
Mysuru City Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash lauded the Government for celebrating Shankara Jayanti and for establishment of Brahmin Development Corporation.He also called for celebration of Ramanuja and Madhvacharya Jayanti along with Shankara Jayanti.
Former Mayor R.G. Narasimha Iyengar, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, former Corporator M.D. Parthasarathy, B.V. Manjunath, K. Raghuram, Sowbhagya Murthy, Vikram Iyengar, Ajay Shastri, Rajagopal Kadakola Jagadish, Suchendra, Prashanth, Arun, Chakrapani, Ramanuja Sahasramanotsava Samiti Secretary Puttaswamy and others were present.
