Nanjangud: Nanjangud MLA B. Harshavardhan inaugurated the Rs.1.4 crore new vegetable market in the town’s APMC Market premises on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Harshavardhan said that the market will help in farmers getting a good price for their produce. Stressing on the need for installing cold storage units in APMC markets, the MLA said that the Raja Kaluve than passes in the middle of the market was closed and had resulted in stagnation of polluted water near the school.
Noting that the Raja Kaluve should be constructed, Harshavardhan assured of funds for the same. Maintaining that the APMC earlier was a cesspool of irregularities, he said that the new vegetable market should be utilised only for the purpose that it is meant for.
APMC President Muddumadashetty, Vice-President Mahadeva, CMC President H.S. Mahadevaswamy, Vice-President Nagamani and others were present.
