Mysore/Mysuru: Extending a helping hand during lockdown in city, Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra distributed essential commodity kits to the poor and daily wagers yesterday.
Each kit containing 5 kg rice, 1 kg salt, 1 litre cooking oil, 1 kg dal, 1 kg sugar and 6 soaps was distributed at V.V. Mohalla, Hebbal and other areas coming under Chamaraja Constituency. Awareness on the deadly disease and its prevention was also held during the distribution besides asking the residents not to venture out of their houses.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Nagendra said that there were more than 8,000 poor families in Chamaraja Constituency and the essential commodity kits have been distributed to more than 5,000 such families so far. He further said that Agarwal Samaj and Jain community people have joined hands in the distribution process and added that additional 7,000 kits are being prepared for distribution.
Stating that essential commodities would be provided at every doorstep, Nagendra warned of initiating action against residents venturing out of their houses.
Corporator M.U. Subbaiah, Santosh Agarwal, Dr. S.K. Mittal and others were present.
