Mysore/Mysuru: Krishnaraja MLA S.A. Ramdas distributed grocery kits to registered building and other construction workers.
The kits, donated by various associations and organisations in city, were distributed at a function held at Builders’ Association of India (BAI) premises in Vishweshwaranagar under the aegis of Karnataka State Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Department of Labour, Mysuru District Legal Services Authority, BAI, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI) and Mysuru Builders Charitable Trust (MBCT), here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas said that the construction workers in his Constituency were jobless during the Covid lockdown. The State Government had announced a special package of Rs. 5,000 for those workers during the first wave of COVID-19 and Rs. 3,000 in the current second wave. Now, those employees were given grocery kit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced free ration for the poor till November this year, he added.
Ramdas said there are plans to allot Ashraya Houses for homeless construction workers in his Constituency as well as to extend facilities given by the State Government. Corporator Shanthamma Vadivelu, Labour Department Officer Rajesh Jadhav, MBCT Managing Trustee T.N. Hemanth, BAI Mysuru Centre President K. Ajit Narayan and CREDAI President Muralidhar were present during the occasion.
