MLA Ramdas inspects Melapura pumping station

Mysore/Mysuru: Following complaints that some parts of his K.R. Assembly segment was getting contaminated water for the past few days, MLA S.A. Ramdas on Thursday visited Melapura Pumping Station and inspected its working.

During his inspection, Ramdas found that sewage water was entering at a few points into the 22km-long water canal from which water is pumped from Melapura to several localities coming under KR Assembly segment. 

The MLA also found that water in two Borewells on Uttaradi Mutt road were polluted and that there were faults in the functioning of chlorination plant at Rammanahalli. The MLA directed the officials to check the quality of water being supplied to houses located in  MCC wards and thereby submit a report. 

Pointing out that the MCC had issued a notice to Karnataka Pollution Control Board to stop entry of sewage water to the water station at Melapura, he wondered how contaminated water is being supplied. He instructed the authorities to submit an action taken report on the measures taken for fixing the problem.
