Mysuru: NR MLA and former Minister Tanveer Sait inaugurated the first Karnataka Public School in city at Rajendranagar here yesterday.
On Friday, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) had formally inaugurated 176 Karnataka Public Schools across the city at a programme held in Bengaluru.
The Government has planned 1,000 such schools, where English would be the medium of instruction and in the first phase, 176 schools have been started this academic year.
Speaking later, Tanveer Sait said that the launching of Government-run Karnataka Public School, where English is the medium of instruction, will be of huge benefit to the poor and underprivileged sections of the society, who cannot afford admission in private schools.
Reiterating that the Public School is a boon for deprived sections, he said that the Government is focussed on imparting quality and modern education to the students in English medium.
Highlighting the features of the School, Sait said that the School offers education right from LKG to 12th standard.
Pointing out that this academic year, 16 children have been admitted to LKG and 30 for first standard, he said that all the admitted students will be provided free Uniform, Text books, Stationery etc.
He called upon the local residents to get their wards admitted to the school, which has all the facilities like any other private school.
Corporator Pradeep Chandra, DDPI (in-Charge) N. Rathna, DDPUE Dr. Panduranga, Local leader N.M. Mahadev and others were present.
