MLA Tanveer Sait releases book ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Update-2020’

Mysore/Mysuru: Narasimharaja Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait released the book titled ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Update-2020’, a collection of articles by international writers  at a function held at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangotri campus, here  on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sait said the pandemic has threatened the whole world and managing it has become difficult. In this hour of crisis, they needed to protect themselves. Each and every person must become a Corona Warrior. “If we are safe others will be safe,” he added.

He said it was possible to check this pandemic if Science becomes the way of life of people. More and more research was the need of the hour, he opined.

Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, who presided, said the Varsity has been conducting research in Science field. When they look at research activities around the globe it would give an impression whether they failed to check COVID-19. In the name of Corona, some divine forces were trying to keep all of them under check, he said.

On this occasion, the Corona Warriors Dr. Ravindra Amarnath Urs, B.S. Prashanth and Chetan Vishwanath were felicitated. Both Sait and Prof. Hemantha Kumar were also feted on behalf of book publishers. 

Editors of the book Dr. Syed Baker, Research Scientist, KRASGAMU, Russia; Dr. S. Satish, Professor, Department of Studies in Microbiology, University of Mysore and Dr. M.N. Nagendra Prasad, Head, Department of Biotechnology, JSS Science and Technology University, were present.

The book covers the important aspect of COVID-I9 impact on the society ranging from healthcare system, decline in the global economy and its severity on different sectors such as education and livelihood.
