Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to continue the services of all serving Guest Lecturers under the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), JD(S) MLC K.T. Srikantegowda has also demanded job security. Addressing a press meet here yesterday, he said that the services of Guest Lecturers must be merged through NEP, which the Government has introduced in a haste.
Claiming that about half of the 14,000 Guest Lecturers are facing threat of losing their job, the MLC condemned the Government’s decision to hike wages while also increasing the workload. Accusing the Government of announcing only a paltry relief, he warned of intensifying the agitation if the Government does not consider all the just demands of Guest Lecturers.
Shreeja, a Guest Lecturer, charged the Government of announcing only a superficial relief. Stating that Guest Lecturers have no choice other than ending their lives, she said that the Government will be held responsible for any such extreme step by Guest Lecturers. Arguing that may students have succeeded academically because of the Guest Lecturers, she said that the Government must take note of this and regularise their services.
Karnataka Guest Lecturers State Co-ordination Committee office-bearers Hanumantesh, Dr. G. Mahesh, Dr. J.C. Ravindra, Chaitra and others were present at the press meet.
