Mysore/Mysuru: Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy has said that there is no such thing as retirement for doctors.
He was speaking at a function to bid farewell to MMC&RI faculty Dr. Lakshmegowda on his retirement from service, at Kerala Samaj Bhavan in Vijayanagar here recently.
Observing that doctors can retire only from Government service but not from their pro-fession, Cheluvarayaswamy said that only those who have left behind their mark while in service will get honours upon their retirement and Dr. Laksh-megowda is one among them.
“Dr. Lakshmegowda, a native of Chinakurali in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya, has earned name and fame during his long service. Let Goddess Chamundeshwari give him enough strength to serve the society for many more years,” the Minister said.
Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD), in his address, said that wealth and money are not eternal. But a good health will be of great help in living a healthy and contentful life, he said adding that it is the doctors alone and not money, who can save the lives. Noting that Dr. Lakshmegowda’s is a family of doctors, he wished that the family contribute more for the health of society. GTD also recalled the services of Dr. Ankegowda in city decades ago.
Adichunchanagiri University Vice-Chancellor Dr. M.A. Shekar said that Dr. Lakshmegowda was a doctor who was available for service at all hours of the day.
Dr. Lakshmegowda and his wife Dr. Sumangala, also a doctor, were felicitated on the occasion.
MLA K. Harishgowda, MLC Marithibbegowda, former MLA Vasu, MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. K.R. Dakshayani, Gopalaswamy, Manjunath, Keelara Jayaram and others were present.
