Mysore/Mysuru: MNREGA is a boon for the upliftment of rural population and everyone in villages should benefit from the scheme, said Mysuru Taluk Panchayat (TP) Executive officer (EO) M.S. Ramesh.
He was speaking after flagging off the taluk’s MNREGA publicity campaign vehicle in TP office premises here on Friday.
Pointing out that landless labourers can earn upto Rs.28,900 a year by doing 100 days of manual work under the scheme, he said that agricultural land holders, who have a job card, can execute works upto Rs.2.50 lakh. The works that can be taken up include construction of cattle, poultry, sheep sheds, farm ponds, farm embankment works etc., Ramesh added.
Rural Employment Assistant Director K.M. Raghunath, District IEC Co-ordinator A. Ramya, Technical Co-ordinator N. Ullas, Taluk MIS Officer Vidyashri and other officials were present.
