Mobile phone, charger found in jail barrack trash can

Mysore/Mysuru: Prison staff at the Mysuru Central Jail seized prohibited items during a surprise inspection conducted late on March 31. Acting on the orders of the Chief Superintendent, officials searched the barracks at around 10.50 pm in the punishment wing.

During the inspection, security personnel checked the area near the toilet of Cell No. 4 using a non-linear junction detector (used to search electronic components) and discovered a mobile phone and a charger concealed inside a trash bin.

The seized items were taken into custody and a case has been registered under the Karnataka Prison Rules.

The matter has been handed over to the Mandi Police for further investigation.
