Five phones worth Rs. 50,000 recovered
Mysuru: Lashkar Police have arrested a 27-year-old youth on charges of threatening people with knife and making away with their phones.
On Nov. 25, one Kannan Tenaiah was speaking on his mobile phone near Sangam Theatre and walking with his friends, when a youth snatched his mobile phone and ran away.
Kannan and his friends began to chase the youth, who ran near Suburban Bus Stand. As the victim and his friends were shouting “thief, thief,” Traffic Police personnel near the pre-paid auto counter caught the youth and handed him over to Lashkar Police.
The youth has been identified as Naushad Pasha, a resident of Akbar Road in Mandi Mohalla.
During interrogation, the Police came to know that the accused was addicted to sniffing solution for intoxication. The accused is said to have confessed of snatching mobile phones from the public after threatening them with knife. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered five mobile phones worth Rs. 50,000 from him.
Lashkar Inspector N. Muniyappa, SI Pooja, ASI Raju and staff Parashivamurthy, Lokesh, Prathipa, Manjunath, Devaraja Traffic personnel Yathiraj and Siddarthanagar Traffic personnel Prasanna took part in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
