Mysuru: In a major relief to Policemen guarding the strong rooms at Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management on Valmiki Road, Vinayakanagar (Paduvarahalli) where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machines are stored for the counting day on May 23, mobile toilets are set up at the college premises.
Though the college is well equipped with toilets, the local Police, who form the third layer of security at the strong room storage centre, have been barred from using them on orders of Election Commission.
Armed Central Forces are guarding the strong rooms 24/7 and there is no unauthorised entry.
Due to restrictions, Policemen were finding it difficult to relieve themselves and they aired their grievances to City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna. Acting on the complaint, the Commissioner asked them to go to the toilets at V.V. Puram and Jayalakshmipuram Police Stations or the Jaladarshini Guest House and had even made vehicle arrangements.
Despite this, the problem was not solved and the Policemen were asked to use the toilets at the entrance of the College near the security guard’s section. Also, the issue was discussed with MCC Commissioner who has agreed to set up mobile toilets inside the college premises.
The mobile toilets have been set up in the college premises for the Police personnel on duty.
