Mysuru: Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) with an intention to save the environment has asked people to use only plain clay Ganesha idols for the festival without using either painted or Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols which are harmful and not bio-degradable.
People organising functions as part of Ganesha festival are instructed not to use plastic. While immersing the idols, people are instructed to remove flowers and other items from the idol before the immersion. Using loud speakers between 10 pm and 11 am is also banned so also bursting fire crackers.
Mobile immersion water tanks: KSPCB has arranged three mobile immersion water tanks on Sept.2 to facilitate immersion of Gowri-Ganesha idols after the festival. Schedule of the water tanks location is as follows:
